Special Events

At Amerton Railway we pride ourselves in our engaging, educational and fun special events that are suitable for all the family. Why not join us at one of our events this year and see what it’s all about?

Our family-friendly events are planned to allow everybody to enjoy our heritage without spending too much or travelling too far from the midlands. Our volunteers are excited to show you what we have achieved and these events are simply the best way to experience their efforts!

We are able to accommodate groups, societies, companies and clubs at our railway for behind the scenes access and hands-on experience. Please see our Contact Us page for more information on getting in touch.

Staffordshire Engines Steam Gala – 29th & 30th June 2019

  • Loads to see with our incredibly popular steam-hauled gala with an intensive freight and passenger service.
  • Many visiting locos, exact details to be confirmed soon.
  • Industrial railway demonstrations with our small industrial diesel locomotives to emphasise the flexibility of industrial railways.
  • Shed tours and workshop tours to demonstrate our preservation work and allow you to see our other engines.
  • Great value day tickets can be purchased from the newly refurbished Ticket Office.

Everything Goes – 14th & 15th September 2019

  • We find every locomotive on site that can run, be it pulling freight or passenger trains and let the magic happen.
  • A hugely intensive timetable with industrial railway demonstrations, freight trains and passenger trains.
  • Regular locomotive change-overs and shunting so you can see our expert drivers at work with these old machines, doing it the old way.
  • Great value day tickets can be purchased from the Ticket Office.

Volunteer Recruitment Day – 21st July 2019

On Sunday the 21st July 2019, Amerton Railway will open its doors for a behind the scenes look at how our volunteers keep the railway running, and give you an opportunity to learn about how you could get involved!

Meet our current volunteers in a mixture of informal chats and tours around our engines and workshops and get a taste of what it’s like to be a part of a successful charity and heritage railway.
