2ft Gauge Wagon Exhibition
The Exhibition is going to be developed over the next few months to display the interesting collection of small 2 foot gauge wagon chassis in the collection at Amerton. Initially these are being displayed behind the Poly tunnels so they can be seen from the platform. Once they are all identified there will be a guide plan on the platform giving information about each one.
Some are from Venables timber yard in Stafford and were built by W.G. Bagnall in Stafford. Some are from NCB mining days and were popularly called “Coffin Cars” for transporting pipes and other long loads underground. There are two wooden framed wagon chassis from Cliffe Hill Quarry but these are not yet in position due to their delicate condition. We hope to have the Exhibition ready for full viewing by the time of the Gala.
